Talk morals, unless there's an election involved

A Christian umbrella group urges its members to offer "a moral and spiritual compass for their community, their nation and the world"--except in the social realm.

Reuters reports, "God has no place in politics and should not have been used by churches in the United States to influence the presidential election, a council representing 342 Christians groups around the world said." The World Council of Churches is based in Geneva.

WCC General Secretary Rec. Samuel Kobia wrote the letter criticizing some American churches. But he did not explain how spiritual leaders, whom so many look to for guidance, can proudly offer themselves as moral compasses at the same time they are told to ignore some of the most important moral issues facing voters' consciences.
